The Getaway Plan to headline Fisher’s Gig

Australian indie rockers The Getaway Plan have just announced that they will be headlining this year’s Fisher’s Gig, a day after releasing their new album Requiem. Now in it’s 11th year, Fisher’s Gig is south west Sydney’s premier youth music festival, and will be held on Saturday 5 November 2pm to 9.30pm at Bradbury Oval, Campbelltown.

Supporting The Getaway Plan are Perth rock act The Novocaines, and emerging Sydney-based pop/punk group, Highways.

The national acts will be joined by a host of exceptionally talented local bands and soloists, featuring a variety of musical genres.

The Getaway Plan’s performance at Fisher’s Gig will be of a select few public performances since the band disbanded in 2009, reforming in 2010.

Mayor of Campbelltown, Cr Anoulack Chanthivong, is thrilled with the The Getaway Plan headlining this years Fisher’s Gig.

“A headlining act of this calibre and popularity among young people reinforces Fisher’s Gig’s prominence on the music scene, and sets the stage for the event’s continued growth into the future,” Cr Chanthivong said.

“As an event created by young people for young people, Fisher’s Gig has gained increasing notoriety for launching the careers of emerging local artists, and established a reputation as a world-class, free event on par with any other youth music event in Australia.”

Fisher’s Gig is a drug and alcohol free event, and is carbon neutral. The event is a highlight of Campbelltown City Council’s Festival of Fisher’s Ghost, which runs from 3 to 13 November.

Young people interested in volunteering at Fisher’s Gig should contact Council’s Youth Project Officer on 4645 4835.
