Here is a great opportunity for all you talented jazz musicians out there. The ‘Rory Thomas Oam’ Youth in Jazz Band Competition 2011 is on the hunt for young jazz bands with a minimum of 2 and up to 7 members under the age of 21. For the competition, bands are required to play 2 pieces, with the entire program being jazz orientated ie swing jazz, bebop, jazz, latin jazz or funk jazz. The performance pieces need to be of two contrasting styles and cannot exceed 15 minutes.
Indent will be hitting the road next week and holding a series of Round Table discussions in regional NSW and want YOU to come. The round table style forums are open for anyone to attend, as issues surrounding local music and youth industries will drive discussion, as bought around by the communities key stakeholders in attendance. The Round Tables will first appear in West Wyalong on Tuesday August 9 and will follow on to Cowra, Dubbo, Kiama and Bega. During this meeting Indent will also present the 2011 Indent Tour program that will run later in the year as an opportunity to gather feedback on how to best run the program to match the community’s long term objectives with the tour’s core aims of skills development and increased youth participation.
