Tell us about your music? How would you describe your style?

I play pop/rock music. Its very mainstream and it has a lot of influences from many different genres. I love it because it combines two of my favourite genres so it gives the pop an edge and the rock, softness.

Who are your main influences?

I have so many influences from different artists. Artists such as Taylor Swift, Katy Perry and the Veronicas are a massive inspiration to me although I also idolise some of the classics such as the Beatles, Rolling Stones and Janis Joplin.

How do you find the underage music scene in Sydney compared to Melbourne, where your record label is based?

I have noticed that the amount of venues for underage musicians is declining in Sydney.

Do you have any pre-gig rituals?

Well often before a gig I’ll go into a quiet place and just fill my head with positive thoughts. I feel that it really relaxes me.

If you weren’t a musician, what do you think you would be doing?

That’s a tough question as I have always had music in my life. I guess it would be something to do with acting because that’s also something I’m really passionate about. I know if I wasn’t doing music I would still want to be in the creative arts.

What was the first band you saw live?

It was actually Avril Lavigne in 2005. I was only 10 years old but I do remember it being amazing. I couldn’t stop talking about it for weeks.

What would be your dream festival or gig?

My dream gig would definitely be playing at a sold out concert at the Acer Arena or Entertainment Centre in Sydney.

If you could support any artist or band, whom would you choose?

There are so many incredible artists with whom I would love to share the stage with. I think that I would have to say that I would still love to share the stage with NO DOUBT, being my favourite band whilst I was growing up or The Veronicas.

What’s the next step for Natasha Duarte?

The release of my debut album and hopefully it’s a success.
