RECOUNT is a new competition for young musicians at Australian secondary schools who want to remix, rewrite or rearrange the Music. Count Us In song.
Music. Count Us In is Australia’s biggest school music initiative. A project of Music. Play For Life, the campaign involves half a million students in Australian schools and culminates with everyone singing the same song at the same time.
What is it?
A new competition for high school students in year 9 and above.
Here’s your chance to take some or all of this year’s song and reinvent it. Instrumental only, with lyrics, a cappella…it’s up to you.
Give us a hip hop or dance mix, a band version, reinterpret the song, arrange it in another style, compose an alternative chorus or verses, change the lyrics, write a rap.
How do you do it?
You’ve got options! You could:
Download the stem files of your choice from the studio recording of ‘Come Play Your Part’.
Download the music notation
Go to the Recount home page to download all the files
Complete the online submission form and upload your mp3 via the Music. Count Us In website
Then What?
The AYMC will be the Shortlisting Panel, so we’ll have a listen and send the best entries on to the National Judging Panel.
Erinn Swan (AYMC member, A&R rep, and singer/songwriter) will be on the National Judging Panel alongside Program Ambassador, award-winning producer and musical director, John Foreman and Writer/producer, Audius.
Deadline
We’ll promote the best submissions as they come in, so get started as soon as you can. Submissions will not be accepted after 23rd August 2010.
