Young people across NSW will organise and host more than 100 'all ages' music events thanks to $107,500 in grants announced today by the Minister for Arts, Virginia Judge. The grants are apart of Indents Partnership Grants project
Ms Judge said the MusicNSW Indent program helped people aged between 12 and 25 years organise and promote events in safe, community environments. “All-ages events provide vital opportunities for young people to be inspired by music – and they are live gig ‘apprenticeships’ for emerging bands,” Ms Judge said.
This year, 43 grants worth $2,500 each will help almost 600 bands will showcase their talents to approximately 40,000 young people across the State.
“Through Indent, the State Government provides funding, resources, advice and support to nurture young artists and develop event management skills,” Ms Judge said. “These gigs are organised, hosted and performed young people, bringing live music to young audiences in metropolitan and regional areas.
“Indent-supported all-age events are alcohol- and drug-free, reinforcing positive messages for young people through entertainment.
“MusicNSW has done a terrific job in delivering the Indent program over the last decade, supporting more than 800 safe, drug and alcohol-free events and conducted more than 100 workshops across the State in event management, music industry basics, publicity and promotion, with presentations by key music industry professionals.”
2010 will mark Indent's tenth year of funding, resources, advice and support of all ages entertainment in NSW. Below is a list of all the teams that are being funded for 2010, to find out how to get involved drop us a line.
