This year the Newcastle Indent committee working on Loaded produced a very memorable event at the Loft Youth Venue. The dedication and effort of the Indent team given to organisation and promotion was commendable, and the night was very successful.
All of the 192 people that attended had an awesome night, between the 3 rooms we had set up – with a main room, hip hop room and acoustic room, featuring both local and interstate artists including The Vaine (Sydney), Missouri Breaks (Melbourne) and At War with Gods (Melbourne).
The hip hop room had two acts drop out at the last minute – however this ended up one of the night’s highlights, as one of the regular users of the youth venue was given the opportunity to perform, spontaneously freestyling with the MC’s and DJ’s from acts such as Soul Purpose. Other acts in the hip hop room included Laird & Lomas, K-Square and NC Boys – Code Red DJ’s also brought their own lighting and lasers to put on a spectacular show, bringing the ‘nightclub’ feel to the alcohol- and drug-free all-ages arena.
Local bands showcased included There Goes the City, Alice Vs. Everything, Control Disorder, North of the Border, solo acts Elisa Kate, Liam Green, Thomas Lawson, Joshwa Leigh, Ange Murphy, Pat James as well as a special acoustic set from The Vaine’s lead singer Clik.
There were no incidents and everyone enjoyed checking out the wide variety of music over the 3 rooms. Overall it was a great night for the bands, audience, volunteers and staff alike.
