On tour with Indent #2, Land of many crows

Someone once told me that Wagga meant crows, and Wagga Wagga meant many crows. Now there is this superstition that one crow hanging around means danger, two means love, three means betrayal and so on and so fourth. The final word of wisdom I will impart onto thee is that contrary to popular belief, you don't have to move to the big smoke to make it happen fo yo self, and Wagga is living proof that all ya need to do, is do it your self. CrowdShotWagga This was the biggest turn out, to my knowledge of a Save the Scene workshop, 60+ RSVP's and a room too full of eager cats. INCREDIBLE. Despite the terrible photography on my behalf people got so involved for such a long massive workshop. Kicking off at 4pm the panel took the poise of Max Becker (Indent Partnerships Grant Manager), Chris Moller (APRA) and Nina and Levins (nina las vegas and sleater brockman). The workshop kind of took off on its own accord and evolved into how regional centres can benefit from being regional centres. To give you a snap shot of Wagga Wagga, it's about 5 hours from Sydney alot closer to Canberra, and a stone's throw from the Snow. There are about 60-70 thousand peeps livin it large in this city and doesn't lack at all in crafty individuals keen for some enertainment. The bottom line from our panelists; do it yourself. If you wait around for your perfect all ages gig then chances are it wont happen, and there are plenty of people who want some more out of their lil city so chances are your going to find some friends who'll be able to assist with all aspects of the event. panelshot1wagga Here's another handy tip from your panelists. The most successful gigs/parties/ideas happen over time, brand your gig they way you would your band. If your in a band you'll only be judged if your constantly switching sounds, same with gigs. If you really want to put on gigs, get a logo, start with something original, something different from just another band night. Cause then people will start to associate you with good times and will turn into regular appearences at your gigs. Also especially for those out of the Sydney, work together, don't put on a gig when someone else is, you don't want to compete for attention but build a scene. By sharing audiences you don't run the risk of everyone going to the other gig and then you've got something to do every other weekend, which goes towards building that scene and before you know it people are traveling to your area to hang out and you've just built an attraction. We recorded this session and are in the process of editing it so you can have tip-tastic fun on youtube...coming soonMollerSongWriteWagga Post the panel that went over time but chock full of discussion, pasties and sausage rolls and chocolate chip cookies and cupcakes with coke ran rampant and once everyone got hopped up on sugar, this guy Chris Moller came up with a gee-tar and modest attitude to talk songwriting techniques and band-craft. Drawing on not only his experience hosing APRA Songwriter Speaks programs but of his Sydney band MIDGET who everyone should check out. They've been touring, releaseing records, signing deals and printing vinyl when CD's were the norm and making money off it, some handy tips on songwriting digressed but the evening was so not over. Nina Las Vegas (Nina Agzarian) and Sleater Brockman (Levins) transgressed to form HEAPS DECENT awesome crew teaching club culture and skills they do a lot seperately but together whoa look out world! ye may be saved yet! read about what they do at heapsdecent.com. Levins took us through some new music and some party tricks for DJing and Nina took over with some 'making me jealous and in love with her' toys including the newest edition of serato and a mad midi controler. Their M.O. Just keep trying, keeping finding out more, have another go. There is always room for improvement. Nina SeratoOh yeah and it was Max's birthday. Happy brithday max. This is max with his cake (M for max or W for Wagga, it works both ways) Mr Levins made it for him with love. thanks lev dawg. Next stop BEGA... maxcake
