Vision is to leadership what oxygen is to lungs. Essential!

It's the difference between life and death for a leader. Vision must be written down. Don't just
leave it in your imagination. Write it down. All the time. Receiving a vision is important.
Writing it down is more important. The magic of a vision is in it being written down.
What's your vision? Write it down now. Again and again.

INDENT ANNOUNCES NEW PROJECT: THE BIG EVENT GRANT

Indent, a project of MusicNSW is proud to announce its most ambitious project to date, the Indent Big Event Grants. This is an exciting new project designed to award high-achieving Indent committees across NSW with the opportunity to stage large-scale sustainable events.

Through the Big Event Grants, Indent aims to give young and motivated event organisers a real taste of festival-level management.

The project will further Indent’s goal of establishing more viable touring circuits and sustainable, large-scale entertainment across NSW. Indent also hopes to create a recognised and achievable goal for new and established Indent committees.

As part of the Big Event Grant the organisers will take part in an intensive workshop with music industry professionals.

Indent has employed Kirsti Lenthall as Big Event Project Manager to help steer the event teams to a safe and successful show. Kirsti brings with her years of music industry experience in bookings, management and festival organisation.

SnowSessions 2006 - Newcastle

Indent has selected SnowSessions in Newcastle as its pilot Big Event. SnowSessions is a snowboard rail-slide competition and music festival set in the heart of Newcastle.

The SnowSessions team is a group of four ambitious event organisers who have come up through the ranks of the Indent program; they staged a successful smaller-scale version of SnowSessions last year at the Newcastle Foreshore and through the Big Event Grant are looking to develop it into a sustainable yearly festival.

“We are currently focused on the melding of snowboarding and original music. The festival is looking at nationally renowned headline performers to be the pumping soundtrack for all the snowboarding action thrown down under lights.”

-Andrew Green, 21, Indent ‘SnowSessions’ Committee Leader

On February 8th Indent ran a SnowSessions Intensive Workshop at Fbi Radio with some of Australia’s leading industry professionals including Tom Lang(Homebake), Haydn Johnston (Level One), Deb Brownlow (Metro/Great Escape), Dave Batty (Custom Made), Evan Davies (Harbour Agency), Tom Taafe (TPA), Emren Kara(Tresscox Lawyers) and Hannah Le Coic (freelance publicist).

The day was a huge success with the guest speakers leading the discussion on topics such as insurance, site planning, bookings, volunteers, production and staging, ticketing and artist packs.

“The opportunity for young event organisers to receive first hand advice and information direct from leading industry professionals in this manner is certainly a first of it's kind…It's incredibly refreshing and encouraging to have industry so willing to give up their personal time…many of whom run their own business…it goes to show their commitment towards investing in future generations and thus the increased skill level of event operators around the state, ensuring the industry as a whole is benefiting."Millie Millgate, Director Creative MusicNSW

SnowSessions will be dropping in early July, in the lead-up to the Australian snow season.
Indent plans to continue the pilot program through 2006 with two more Big Events already in the works! Stay tuned.
